Sites of the London Marathon
Runners at the ready and spectators steady for one of the UK’s most famous and exciting sporting events. Approximately, the London Marathon enters 30,000 participants a year to run the challenging 26 mile race through scenic London and this year looks like it’s going to be just as big as always! For this week’s blog, we thought we’d get involved with the experience of the participants and name some notorious sites that they might get the chance to see on their travels (unless they are dressed as a giant chicken, then their view might be a bit restricted).
Celebrate St. George’s Day London style.
The English tradition of St. George’s Day is carried through the whole of the UK, remembering the dragon-slaying patron saint of England and celebrating his story. So, what’s going on in London this year to rejoice the special occasion? As usual, the city is going to be all things red and white and bursting with activities to suit everyone. We know it is a bit early yet to be so excited about this day, but let us share what’s in store so far for the 23rd of this month.
Breakfast in the Victorian era
The exciting event of English Tourism Week is over and we are sad to be ending our celebrations, until next year! If you popped in last week for our special Victorian style breakfast and service, you may have had the chance to try some tasty food from the past. Some of you may have become curious about the origins of the traditional English breakfast recipes, so we’re going to jump in the time machine once again and tell you more about what the Victorians had for brekkie.
Why the Georgian House loves England
This week is a special celebration of English Tourism Week and the Georgian House is going all out to show you how much we are proud to be quintessentially English! An exclusive Victorian themed breakfast with staff looking the part and some delicious delicacies from the 1800s are our ideas of a fun and also an educational way of celebrating the week. We have even been lucky enough to have MP for the Cities of London and Westminster constituency, Mark Field popping in this week for brekkie! As part of a competition, we asked you what are the best things about England and why you would choose this destination to come on holiday. We asked the same question to our staff, many of whom have come from around the world to work for us and their answers are truly inspiring. We’re going to share them with you.
An ‘egg-citing’ weekend in London.

London is rich with exciting activities for absolutely anyone and everyone, with some particular events occurring for the kids and the grown-ups too.
