This week is a special celebration of English Tourism Week and the Georgian House is going all out to show you how much we are proud to be quintessentially English! An exclusive Victorian themed breakfast with staff looking the part and some delicious delicacies from the 1800s are our ideas of a fun and also an educational way of celebrating the week. We have even been lucky enough to have MP for the Cities of London and Westminster constituency, Mark Field popping in this week for brekkie! As part of a competition, we asked you what are the best things about England and why you would choose this destination to come on holiday. We asked the same question to our staff, many of whom have come from around the world to work for us and their answers are truly inspiring. We’re going to share them with you.
At the Georgian House, history is a significant feature of our hotel and through asking this question to our staff, we’ve discovered that the rich heritage and tradition are a common factor in each person’s answer, showing the meaning of English culture in our lives. One member of our staff, Andro’s answer to what he loves most about England was “the history. England is so rich with history… and you can find pubs everywhere.” He is certainly right, there’s nothing like a good old English pub! Our talented chef, Judit said “England has so many faces, beautiful countryside, history and as well a modern capital city. People keep traditions, respect the Queen, are polite with each other, are proud of themselves and their products…For me, though just only few places I’ve been here, England is a piece of heaven.” We’re certainly proud of the beautiful history this country holds and the Georgian House strives to represent this each and every day!
Our head housekeeper, Amalia particularly loves “the feeling of freedom, the happiness that you see on people’s faces and the rush in the way they live their lives,” London, in particular is a place full of different people from different nationalities and considered as one of the most diverse destinations in the world. It is a place where if you put your mind to it, you can be whatever you want to be and there is so much opportunity to take hold of. Maybe that’s why Amalia sees happiness in the people of London.
Partner of the business and great, great grand-daughter of the constructor of the Georgian House, Serena has revealed why England is the place to be for her. “I like the heritage of England from yesterday, with its crazy and creative atmosphere of today. It’s a good place to holiday because you are certain to find some beautiful things, eat something delicious, and have some surprises!” As a tourist destination, what’s not to love about England? Attractions, nature, heritage and an infinite number of activities and things to do. There is something for everyone in England, whether you are a family, couple, group of friends or travelling solo, you’re sure to have a memorable time spent in this country.
In a nutshell, we love England and we want to hear why you love it too! Be sure to connect and take part this English Tourism Week by sending us a photo or simply telling us via our social-media channels why you would recommend England as the place to take a vacation. The best entrant will win a delightful English hamper stocked up with Georgian goodies on us. Happy travelling!
