Covent Garden

Covent Garden is famed for its bizarre street performers as it is architectural and historical elegance. With regular festivals and events throughout the year, entertainers entertaining seven days a week and an array of theatres, museums, galleries and other places of interest, there is always plenty to see and do in and around Covent Garden. This is without even mentioning the shops.

Top tip: Visit the Apple Market, which is held in the Covent Garden Piazza, and take a look at the wide range of jewellery, clothing and stationary it has to offer.

Fun fact: Covent Garden is the only district in London to have a license for street performers and entertainers.

London Marathon

The Virgin Money London Marathon, which will celebrate its 35th birthday in 2016, is the largest annual fundraising event in the world.

If you are not running in the London Marathon, you can cheer the runners on. Crowds of around half a million people will line the streets and the festival atmosphere will make it a very enjoyable event to attend. Pubs will provide entertainment and there will be an array of bands and street entertainers.

Top tip: If you are cheering on a loved one who is taking part, you can track them via the Virgin Money London Marathon website using their unique runner number.

Fun fact: The London Marathon has raised over £716 million for charity in 34 years.

The Science Museum

The Science Museum is a great day out for adults and children of all ages. The Science Museum’s collections form an enduring record of scientific, technological and medical change since the eighteenth century.

Top tip: Take a visit to the museum’s IMAX theatre to see one of their stunning science films.

Fun fact: The Science Museum and its neighbour, The V&A, were originally known as the South Kensington Museum before they were separated.

The O2 Arena

The O2 Arena, which was once known as the Millennium Dome, is the world’s busiest music arena. Concerts, theatre shows and sporting events take place at the arena throughout the year.

As well as a performance arena, The O2 is home to a cinema, bowling alley, a variety of bars and restaurants, a nightclub and museum. You can now even walk over the O2 with it’s ‘Up at The O2’ attraction.

Top tip: If you would just like to visit The O2 Arena, try and avoid days that events are running as this will mean the restaurants and attractions will be less busy.

Fun fact: The O2 Arena has a capacity of 20,000 people.
