Does anyone know where the last 5 months have gone? It was only January 2 minutes ago! The most beautiful time of year has come around again and as tradition, we just HAVE to tell you all about one of our favourite events, the Chelsea Flower Show. Not to give too much away, but it’s going to be another florally fabulous event this year with more extravagant showcases than you have ever seen before! If you’re attending this year and want your experience to be a surprise, stop reading this blog now… because we’re going to reveal what to expect at the garden destination of the capital.
The best shows in garden design
From the 23rd to the 27th May, the culture spotlight will be on Chelsea as millions will be inspired by the spectacular variety of the world’s best garden designs. Whether it’s a window box, a patio or an estate, the colours of Summer will be shining through as a whole year of planning is finally brought to life and expert gardeners and architects compete for the top spot. This year, expect to see 5 Fresh Gardens, 9 Show Gardens, 9 Artisan Gardens alongside over 100 more flower displays that push the boundaries every single year to bring audiences something truly magical.
In the Artisan Garden, former winner, Gary Breeze is returning with his unique and fascinating design that features a replica of an 800-year old boat! Meanwhile, The Fresh Garden will be lit up with Jack Dunckley’s tropical volcano creation, The Bermuda Triangle, a sleek and contemporary architectural garden with vibrant colours and striking lights, a must see. In the Show Garden, James Basson will be competing for his third gold medal in a row with a stunning take on a Maltese landscape, while his worthy competitors, Laurie Chetwood and Patrick Collins take on The Chendu Silk Road Garden, combining plants and architecture to showcase a mesmerizing creation.
Be sure to take a wander around the Great Pavilion, considered one of the jewels of the Flower Show, with 12,000 square metres (that’s enough to comfortably park 500 London buses) of over 100 exhibits from florists, nurseries and growers all around the world. If that’s not flower power, we don’t know what is. If you’ve got kids with you, they can get involved too with the Senses Eco Garden, designed to get children inspired and interested in gardening (and that can’t be easy!)
