Buckingham Palace – The home of royal hospitality

One of the reasons why the Georgian House incredible fortunate and proud of its location is that a landmark reflecting true English heritage and culture lies a short walk away from our front door! Since 1837, Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of British royals and more than 50,000 lucky people visit as guests to magnificent events hosted inside the beautiful building. What’s more, thanks to the special Summer Openings, the picturesque Palace has been welcoming more and more visitors through its glorious doors with a record number of 413,000 reached in 2010! If you have not considered spending a day out exploring one of the most wonderful landmarks in the country, here’s why we think you should!

To get an idea of the sheer size of the residence, Buckingham Palace holds 775 rooms, including 19 state rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms and 78 bathrooms (the list goes on). The Palace also houses the offices of those who work in supporting the day-to-day activities of The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and if this does not seem big enough yet, the grand palace also plays host to Royal ceremonies, banquets, receptions and more for most of the year. During the Summer Openings, the State Rooms of the palace are open for visitors to gaze upon feeling like a royal and a special exhibition is also held each year. The annual occasion definitely gets our recommendation.

Receive a royal welcome when you arrive at the stunning palace. For the first time at the Summer Opening, guests can enter The State Rooms via the Grand Entrance normally used by those fortunate enough to have received an invitation from The Queen. See the charming Australian State Coach displayed at the Grand Entrance portico where the Queen would depart by carriage to ceremonies. Admire the knighting stool and sword, personal jewellery and dresses worn by The Queen herself alongside special gifts presented to her by Heads of State among more inspiring displays. Have a nose around the State Rooms exquisitely designed reflecting the taste of George IV who wanted architect John Nash to transform what was Buckingham House, into a palace. The furniture, chandeliers, paintings and pieces of porcelain are simply delightful and are guaranteed to immerse you into the wonderful English heritage that the palace is home to. If you’re wondering if it gets any better than this, it does! The palace Ballroom will be set up with tables boasting sparkling silver centrepieces and candelabra from the Royal Collection… just as if you were about to attend a State Banquet! See the impressive attention to detail that is required to prepare such a magnificent event and who knows, maybe one day you will have an invite and get to dine like a royal.

Until September 2015, don’t miss your chance to discover what’s behind the elegant exterior in one of the world’s last remaining working royal palaces. Make your trip to the famous venue one to remember and exclusively experience the magic of an official visit. Book your tickets via the official website and prepare to be wow-ed!
