The secret finally got out this month that it’s not over for the Potter fans that were left devastated when the movie phenomenon came to a dramatic end. The very much anticipated theatre production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is in fact a following episode of the epic series and we simply could not be more excited! The two-part stage play is set to be open to muggles in July next year at the Palace Theatre, London and even though the official synopsis leaves us guessing, we know it’s going to be spectacular.
JK Rowling has collaborated with director John Tiffany, writer Jack Thorne along with many other talented theatre experts to create this enchanting tale that will certainly not disappoint. Set 19 years after the final battle between Harry and Lord Voldemort in The Deathly Hallows, this captivating tale follows a well and truly grown-up Harry and his youngest son, Albus. The Boy Who Lived, now a husband, father of three and working as an employee at the Ministry for Magic is struggling to keep his sinister past at bay. Meanwhile, little Albus Severus bears the burden of his family’s legacy and the story tells of the darkness both Albus and his father unexpectedly face. The official theatre project was confirmed back in June this year, marking the 18th anniversary of the very first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone that was released in June 1997 (not to make you feel old or anything). Interestingly, the play is designed to be viewed in two consecutive parts, whether on the same day or over two evenings, probably because of the sheer amount of magical greatness that couldn’t possibly fit into one show. Curtains will be rising for both the plays on the 30th July and tickets are on sale now, so get ready to go Harry Potter hard for the theatrical event of the year 2016!
