Let’s start with the part that matters most: the hotel isn’t suitable for guests who are completely wheelchair dependent. There are steps from street level to the front door and no lift, and neither can be changed under the restrictions that apply to our listed building. If you’re less certain where you sit on that spectrum, the detail below should help you decide, and the team would much rather talk it through before you book than have you arrive to something that doesn’t work.
Getting in the front door
Access to the hotel is via three steps from street level to the front door. There’s no ramp and no alternative entrance, which is the main reason we can’t accommodate guests who use a wheelchair full time.
If you’re planning around exact measurements, ring or email us before booking and we’ll confirm dimensions rather than have you rely on a general description.
Stairs, floors and hallways
Our bedrooms are spread over four floors with many steps between them, and there’s no lift. That isn’t a choice we’ve made: listed building restrictions mean we aren’t permitted to install one.
Two other things are worth knowing before you arrive. Our hallways are narrow, and because of the age of the building not all the flooring is level. Neither is a problem for most guests, but if you use a stick or a frame, or you’re unsteady on uneven surfaces, they’re the details that tend to matter more than the number of stairs.
Asking for a room on a lower floor

We do have rooms on the ground and lower floors, and we’re happy to reserve one for you. The important part is asking at the time of booking rather than on arrival, since there are only so many of them and they go quickly.
This applies just as much if you’re carrying heavy luggage rather than managing a mobility need. Either way, tell us when you book and we’ll put you somewhere that suits.
Reception is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so there’s always someone to help with bags whatever time you arrive. We can store luggage on the day you arrive and the day you leave, though space limits mean we can’t keep it overnight before check-in or after check-out.
Visual and hearing impairments
Georgian House is suitable for guests with visual or hearing impairments. If there’s specific provision you need, get in touch before booking and we’ll tell you honestly what we can and can’t do.
How the three buildings compare
We have three addresses in Pimlico, and access differs between them.
| Georgian House | Chinnery House | Bower House | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entrance | Three steps from street level | Ground floor apartment available | Keys collected at Georgian House |
| Lift | No | No | No |
| Floors | Bedrooms over four floors | Apartments across the building, two near the top | Rooms up to the fourth floor |
| Lower level option | Ground and lower floor rooms, on request | Apartment 1 is on the ground floor, request at booking | Ground floor rooms, request at booking |
| Wheelchair access | Not suitable | Not suitable | Not wheelchair accessible |
At Chinnery House, Apartment 1 is the one on the ground floor. Apartment 3 has its own private entrance but one steep set of stairs to reach it, and Apartments 4 and 5 sit near the top of the building up steep stairs. Our team will always give you a hand with luggage at whichever building you’re staying in.
Telling us what you need
The most useful thing you can do is get in touch before you book rather than after. Every guest’s needs are different, and a conversation gets you a straight answer about whether we’re the right fit far faster than a list of features can.
You can read the full statement on our accessibility page, see what’s available across the buildings on our rooms and apartments pages, and reach the team through our contact page.
Not sure whether we’d work for you? Drop us a line with what you need and we’ll tell you plainly, including if the answer is that we’re not the right place. We’d rather be honest than have you arrive to a surprise.
