Taste your way through London this Easter

Easter fun with the kids in London

Just as we’ve come to terms with March springing up on us, it’s already April! The year may be passing far too quickly, but the good news is that the sun is shining (for now), blossoms are blooming and it’s the sweetest time of year. This blog is dedicated to the blessing that is chocolate, and how your Easter break can be spent celebrating its delicious existence by creating, tasting or just enjoying some of London’s most chocolate-y destinations.

Atelier de chocolat de Pâques

It’s time to get a little messy and use your imagination as you unleash the your inner chocolatier. My Chocolate in De Beauvoir Town (Tube: Highbury Islington) is not only the perfect venue for any chocolate making events, but also is playing host to a special Easter Workshop that simply looks too good to be true. After a brief history lesson that will get your taste-buds raring to go, you can get your hands on chocolate ganache, chocolate fudge and all other kinds of chocolate-y ingredients to make your own wacky Easter creations. For the ultimate winning combination, why not try out the cocktail and chocolate workshop? Learn the art of chocolate mixology and practice your bartending technique as you whip up some sweet and stylish cocktails, before continuing onto making your own irresistible truffles. A great idea for couples or friends that crave an indulgent treat and the perfect opportunity to celebrate Easter (or just an excuse to eat lots of chocolate).

Cafés chocolatés

Ditch your avocado and poached egg brunch for a more choc-centric menu at one of London’s many cafes that offer an indulgent experience that leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. The Hotel Chocolat Café in Covent Garden has a little quirky twist to its menu, with such delights as chilli-hot chocolate, cocoa beer, cocoa gin with a fruity kick and a tasty millionaire’s shortbread or classic rocky road to go with it. Said café/shop in Soho is a new kid on the block, but boasts long-established chocolate-y products all the way from Rome and is a cosy venue for a break during your busy day shopping. Customers can relax with a rich, thick and simply mouth-watering cup of hot chocolate and it is literally impossible to leave without taking a little sweet treat with you from behind the glass counter. With chocolate displayed in jars, cauldrons or just in heaps, be sure to peel your eyes away just for a moment to take a look at the interior design, with walls made of metal chocolate moulds, very impressive! Café Godiva located in Harrods store is a Belgian chocolate brand that has opened a piece of heaven inside the department store. You could probably easily sniff out and find the café once you walk in to Harrods and choose from a wide range of desserts, cakes, fondues, pastries, crepes, ice cream and more! The sugar kick you need to energise your shopping is right here at Café Godiva!

Pour les enfants

It’s not hard to imagine the look on any child’s face when they hear the word chocolate, let alone going to some of London’s most delicious destinations where it’s chocolate galore! M&M’s World in Leicester Square is literally one of those places that you won’t believe until you see it. You and your family will need to take a minute to adjust to the strong whiff of pure chocolate when you walk in, before embarking on your four floor journey that is all-things M&M. From pens to pyjamas, the place is FULL of cool branded merchandise featuring everyone’s favourite TV advert characters, the red and yellow M&M’s! And of course, be sure to follow the smell down a flight of stairs to reach an ocean of chocolate. All co-ordinated into every colour you can imagine, grab yourself a cup and fill it up with your favourite M&M’s! Have you ever heard of Choccywoccydoodah? The name says it all when it comes to describing the café that is renowned for its extravagant creations that are fascinatingly tempting. To say that the cakes and chocolate designs are over the top is a slight understatement! Grab a hot chocolate and a brownie before gazing upon the amazing choocy-architecture and wanting to take a bite out of one. Typically, people spend up to 3 whole hours wandering around dreamily at the Chocolate Museum in Brixton. Learn about national and international origins of quality chocolate and explore intriguing collections before getting the kids involved in making their own chocolates and sweets, experimenting with all kinds of decorations and taking them home to enjoy.
