Easter fun with the kids in London

Easter fun with the kids in London

Got your year’s supply of Easter eggs ready to start munching? Good! You’re going to need lots of energy for all the fun and games you’ll be having with the kids this Easter break. London is in full bloom and what a week of amazing weather we’ve had. Hopefully, there’ll be plenty more where that came from. Here’s a few things happening around London that are great to get the little ones involved in, so they can tell all their friends when they go back to school! Plus, if it happens to be tipping down with rain one day and you’re stuck indoors, or you have a special Easter occasion at your home, we’ve got some great themed baking recipes that are quick, easy and very delicious.

Get on the hunt

Mind the pun, but now is an absolutely cracking time to be out and about in London. If you have children and looking for something egg-citing (we promise that’s the last one) to do, there are plenty of opportunities for fantastic Easter fun in the capital. Over in Forest Hill, the Horniman Museum is hosting a special Easter fair, including such activities as an egg hunt, arts and crafts and storytelling. The Battersea Parkchildren’s zoo is all set for a whole day of entertainment where kids can spot eggs hidden inside animal enclosures (lucky animals), more arts and crafts and even a personal one-to-one meeting with a real-life fluffy bunny! Or, why not head to London Bridge where you and your family can search for clues, meet quirky characters and play some games whilst on the hunt for chocolate eggs. The London Bridge City Easter Egg Trail is a great opportunity to explore the famous historical sights of London whilst getting your dose of sugar. What’s even better than searching high and low for Easter eggs? Searching for golden bunnies! Hampton Court Palaceis teaching its visitors of the special hunt about the history of royal chocolate and keep your eye out for the four-legged golden prize as you explore the palace. There’s loads more chocolatey hunts happening around London, be sure to get involved and come back home with your pockets full of choccies!

Attractions with a twist

A new addition has just been unveiled at the Sea Life London Aquarium that is definitely worth a visit over the holidays. The Ocean Invaders exhibit allows you to get a real sensory experience and mingle with some of the world’s most beautiful, weird and dangerous jellyfish. Learn all about the alien-like creatures with some very cool digital interactions, before stepping into a space surrounded by real jelly-fish! The London Zoo in Regent’s Park is also adding a little something extra to its attraction for the Easter period. The zoo has created a brand new trail that seeks out real-life animals, collects special stamps and includes other fun activities throughout the zoo, before settling down for a little storytelling. Make your Easter even more magical this year with one of the many seasonal theatre shows raising their curtains and making you smile! From children’s performances, such as the Velveteen Rabbit, to circus spectaculars… you’re spoilt for choice.

Easter baking

If it’s a bit of a rubbish day outside and you need something to do, or even if you’re hosting a special Easter occasion with your family, both of these are perfect excuses to make a huge mess of the kitchen and indulge on your own freshly baked delights! If you’re playing host this Easter weekend, why not get the kids to help out a little with one of these super simple recipes that creative utterly delicious treats…

First up is the 3-ingredient wonder that is very quick and easy to make, plus you can add any fillings and toppings you like for a touch of creativity. All you need is a can of condensed milk, 450 grams of chocolate and your chosen extra (whether it be malteasers, mini-eggs or even crème eggs…go nuts!). Simply mix in your condensed milk and filling with melted chocolate, spoon into a tray and leave in the fridge to set. Perfect way to get the little ones to lend a helping hand while you’re running around preparing everything else! Or, for something a little more dessert-like, try a tempting mini-egg cheesecake. Crumble up some biscuits and add melted butter to make the base. Whip up cream cheese, sugar and cool whip in a bowl and pour onto your base, smoothing out the top before chilling. Finally, see how high a tower of mini-eggs you can make on top of the cheesecake!

With so much to do over the holiday, make sure you take a well deserved break in between all the fun and book a stay with us to put your feet up (temporarily). See what special offers we have to make your Easter vacation ‘egg-stra’ special!
