Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens is one of London’s eight Royal Parks and is home to the stunning Kensington Palace, the Serpentine Gallery and picturesque Italian gardens.

Top tip: If you are visiting with children, don’t forget to check out the two playgrounds and the Peter Pan statue.

Fun fact: The gardens cover 275 acres and was originally a part of Hyde Park.

Battersea Park

Battersea Park is located on the south bank of the River Thames and is home to outdoor sports facilities, a boating lake and a small children’s zoo.

Top tip: Experience London from the tree tops at the Go Ape centre in the heart of Battersea Park.

Fun fact: The first Football match played under Football Association rules was played in Battersea Park on the 9th of January 1864.

Tate Britain

Tate Britain holds the largest collection of British art in the world from 1500 to the present day and is the oldest gallery in the Tate network. The gallery was formerly known as the National Gallery of British Art and houses work from the likes of John Constable, William Blake and J.M.W. Turner.

Top tip: Get the full Tate experience by getting a speed boat from the Millbank Millennium Pier outside Tate Britain down the River Thames to the Tate Modern.

Fun fact: The Tate Britain is situated on the location of the former Millbank Prison.

Hyde Park

Located in the centre of London, Hyde Park is London’s largest park and is one of four Royal Parks throughout the city. The park is home to beautiful memorials, an oriental flower garden, a large lake and an array of events throughout the year.

Top tip: Visit around Christmas and visit Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland attraction.

Fun fact: Hyde Park has over 4,000 trees planted within its 350 acres.

V&A Museum

The Victoria and Albert Museum is the world’s largest museum of art and design. The museum has a collection of over 4.5 million objects and artefacts from European, North American, Asian and African cultures.

Top tip: To avoid crowding, make the most of the museum’s late night opening on a Friday.

Fun fact: The V&A showcases more than 5,000 years of creativity.

The British Museum

The British Museum is home to some of the world’s most famous historic artefacts including Rosetta Stone, Parthenon Sculptures and Egyptian mummies. The museum’s collection spans over two million years of history and is visited over six million times a year.

Top tip: Look on The British Museum website ahead of your visit and try and catch one of the lectures or demonstrations held at the museum.

Fun fact: The British Museum was founded and opened to the public in 1759.
